The laments at WaPo are tragically hilarious. They don’t like that FBI is taking over investigations versus the state of Minnesota. You know the same people who refused to enforce traffic laws that let the tragedy unfold and didn’t respond afterward now want to be investigators.
100% agreed. Samo samo. Way too quick which is typical.
One side from the WSJ: “Some officials in ICE’s headquarters were alarmed that the leadership in the Trump administration quickly labeled the incident an act of “domestic terrorism,” rather than waiting to conduct an investigation into the incident, according to people familiar with the matter. Officials internally passed around an interview with border czar Tom Homan on CBS News, in which he said he would reserve judgment while an investigation was under way, the people said”

Gerald, thank you for your post. As someone that lives here in the Twin Cities, the entire area has everyone nervous that we may see another George Floyd 4 day riot scenario. The White House and the Governor need to stop with comments that just throw gas onto this burning fire. Just stop. The investigation by FBI will take some time. Many will not accept its findings. But so many questions need to be answered. Some many social media "influencers" are like piranhas right now. Best wishes to you and your wife.
Your governor, mayor and police chief have been promoting political violence for months now against federal agents carrying out the democratic mandate to enforce existing immigration law. Don’t both sides it.
One element here is that the woman might've been so angry at ICE--simply seeing the officers--that she failed to realize how dangerous the situation could become, in an instant.
True. Unfortunately I have no confidence that the FBI investigation will be looking for unbiased evidence but will instead be constructing justification. It, like many federal agencies, seems to run on loyalty above all.
We have been burned for decades "waiting for the facts," only to be met will classified opacity or comprehensive redaction. That's not to say snap judgement is preferable, but we just spent ten years, at least, where only the DNC was able to circulate their approved "snap judgement."
Ashlii Babbit was shot dead, as she dangled one arm over a massive barricade. Babbit was unarmed and not driving a car. The whole swamp treated the accusation that Babbit was murdered as a racist hate crime.
Exactly. The “waiting for the facts” narrative allows the radicals to plant the deeply false information into the public brain. We all know normal people don’t come back for the facts later.
It’s a lazy cop out when you don’t want to take a side on right vs wrong
While I want to like your thought, we have all seen this ‘movie’ before
The far-left is doing a lightening sprint to turn this person into a martyr, which is already clearly not the case given the facts on the ground. This can’t be allowed to happen since most normal people won’t look for the facts later on
The ICE “officer” left the scene. That in itself points to criminal misconduct. The Trump administration is blocking the Minneapolis police department from investigating the case. Why? Because they know he’s guilty.
Jeff - do you think federal agents report to the local police department?
If so, I’d like a thorough investigation into the police department—starting with its leadership—for promoting political violence against federal agents fulfilling their democratic mandate to enforce immigration law. I’d also like a follow up investigation to understand why they were allowing known-radicals to interfere with lawful work of federal agents to remove illegal aliens who knowingly and willingly violated the law
In Britain, we are facing the prospect of losing jury trials for most offences because judges will 'just know' who is guilty. Combined with the selective use of surveillance footage, which shows what happened but not why it happened, and can now be faked with trivial effort using machine learning tools, we are heading for systematic injustice as the norm.
Your words are relevant and cautionary in general, but I think the third or fourth video, the one from the officer who did the shooting, is conclusive here, and damning, when viewed along with the others. I was a bit cautious about arriving at a conclusion until I saw that video.
Let me sum it up differently. The right is wrong. Trump’s goons have no place on American streets. The murder in Minneapolis is a feature not a bug of Trump’s fascism.

> "The certainty expands as the evidence contracts."
Nice aphorism, more or less accurate summation. 👍🙂

"But impatience is not a virtue in fact-finding. It is a liability. "
How true!

Wise.
Absolutely correct.

That’s right. Gulp that Koolade you brainwashed Nazi fox watcher.

You might think you are posting about The Current Thing, but as Mary Harrington stated, it is the “Current of Things” that is posting you.
